Set up in two minutes.

Install the extension, add a key from any supported provider, and you are done. On Chrome 138+ you can skip the key and use the built-in on-device AI.

  1. 1.Install the extension

    Add CogniSphere to your browser, then pin it from the puzzle-piece menu so the icon stays visible. Works in Chrome and Edge.

  2. 2.Add an API key

    Open the extension's settings and paste a key from one of the providers below. The key is stored in your browser and is sent only to that provider — never to CogniSphere. On Chrome 138+ you can also skip this step and use the built-in on-device AI.

  3. 3.Ask a question

    Go to any page, open the panel, and type — or highlight text and tap an action. The extension reads the page and sends your question along with it.

An account is optional. Sign in only if you want settings synced across devices — see the detailed install steps.

Where to get a key

On-device AI needs no key. For cloud models, you pay your provider directly for what you use — CogniSphere takes no cut and adds no markup.

Chrome Built-in AI

No key. Runs on your device in Chrome 138+. Easiest way to start.

Google Gemini

Has a free tier. Easiest cloud provider to start with.

OpenAI

GPT-5 and o3 models. Broad capability across tasks.

Anthropic Claude

Strong at writing, reasoning, and long documents.

DeepSeek

Inexpensive, strong at reasoning and code.

xAI Grok

Fast answers with recent-world knowledge.

OpenRouter

One key, many models including GPT and Claude.

Ollama

Runs models on your own machine. No key, no cloud.

When something breaks

The panel doesn't open

Some pages block extensions — the Chrome Web Store, chrome:// pages, and PDF viewers among them. Try a regular website first. If it still fails, reload the tab after installing.

On-device AI isn't available

Chrome's built-in AI needs Chrome 138+ on desktop and currently supports English, Japanese, Spanish, German and French. If your language isn't listed or you're on another browser, add a cloud provider key instead.

I get an authentication or 401 error

The API key is missing, mistyped, or has no quota left. Re-paste it in settings and check your usage on the provider's own dashboard.

Answers are cut off

Very long pages can exceed the model's context window. Try a model with a larger context, or ask about a specific section instead of the whole page.

Ollama doesn't connect

Make sure Ollama is running locally and that the endpoint in settings matches its address — usually http://localhost:11434.
